Meet The Teams
NULHC runs 7 teams, of which 6 compete in in the BUCS League as well as all playing in the Saturday Leagues. All teams play at a high standard and are very competitive. Our 1st team lead the way and are competing at the highest league level in BUCS National League and are also in the England Hockey National League, Conference North. Over the past 5 years the Club has amassed an incredible 20 league promotions and 3 cup finals as well as wining the AU Sports Awards for 2023 as Club of the Year and also Team of the Year for our incredible Womens 1's.

The 2022/23 season saw the 1XI finishing top of both the BUCS premier north league and the YNE premier champions on Saturdays. The team plan to continue the success they had last year on to the new season.

ABOUT US
The 3s play every Wednesday in BUCS in the Northern 2B league. This is a very competitive league with strong teams from across the North, such as Durham, Leeds Beckett and York. On a Saturday, the 3s play in the YNE Division 1 North East league, again facing some challenging matches against teams such as Leeds University 1s and Ben Rhyming 2s. This season we finished mid-table, however we hope to only improve for the next season!

The NULHC 4's XI play each Saturday alongside our Women's 3s following promotion last year. In YNE Division 1 against some great clubs and with BUCS games on. Wednesday offer plenty of competitive hockey for all involved.
Training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday evening, while Wednesday evenings are social nights which are always good fun and help to build a strong team bond. Definitely not to be missed!

The NULHC 5’s XI play each Saturday in a North east division 1 league against local clubs, and every Wednesday in BUCS against other universities. We train every Tuesday evening, with an additional fitness training on Monday, and Wednesday nights are for hockey socials which are always great fun and help to get to know your team as well as the whole club!

The 6s are taking part in their second season playing in the BUCS league which is an exciting new opportunity. We are all keen to push ourselves next year as we play a higher level, against harder competition. Along with matches we have training every Tuesday night which helps the team to gel together and enhance skills. Either at hockey or at socials the 6s have been extremely welcoming and inclusive, creating a very positive and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone on the team

Last season was our first in the YNE Regional Premier League and a comfortable midtable finish was achieved. We will look to build on this further next season.
BUCS Northern 1A saw another very successful season, finishing in a commendable 3rd position behind some very strong sides. Our aim for next season is to continue our success and hopefully finish in the top three for both leagues!
